Indigenous Languages

The study of language is essential to the 东京热app’s distinct Indigenous identity. Our programs offer students a unique opportunity to combine the study of Indigenous languages with that of the Linguistics or Indigenous Education programs.

Language courses explore conversational fluency, structure, writing systems, literature, principles of translation, and oral traditions. Linguistics provides the tools to study and talk about language as part of a comprehensive program designed to assist students in following their passion.

Our programs are designed to foster a sense of pride in students through the knowledge and use of Indigenous languages. Students have the option to obtain a Minor in Language to complement their education degree or pursue a full degree in language study and linguistics, enhancing their career prospects and personal growth.

First Nations Language Instructor Certificate (FNLIC)

The First Nations Language Instructors Certificate (FNLIC) is a certificate program that supports First Nations language teaching instructors.

The program is a space for anyone interested in learning how to teach a First Nations Language. It is designed to include six language groups: n锚hiyaw锚win, 础苍颈丑拧颈苍腻辫脓尘辞飞颈苍, Dakota, Nakota, Mohawk, and Dene, ensuring that everyone’s unique linguistic heritage is respected and celebrated.

FNLIC is designed for people who work full-time and cannot leave their communities. It is offered remotely and in the evenings. Courses taken within the program can be accredited towards a Bachelor of Education degree.
